Compact 2*1 Reader Array Antenna Operating in ISM Band for RFID Applications

This paper proposes a compact 2*1 reader array antenna for RFID system having high directivity, good gain, and reflection coefficient. The structure consists of two main radiating rectangular patch antennas connected in parallel with common impedance (50 Ω). These patches are printed on an RT/duroid 5880 substrate possessing dielectric constant ε r equal to 2.2 0.0009 as loss tangent. It operates ISM (Industrial, Scientific Medical) band resonant frequency 5.8 GHz. is implemented size 38.77× 59.44× 1.6 mm 3 equivalent electrical 0.74λ 0 × 1.14λ 0.03λ , where λ the free-space wavelength at frequency. gain achieved by final design proposed 9.83 dB, directivity around 9.99 dB coefficient ( S 11 ) -49.48 dB. optimized simulated using Computer Simulation Technology software (CST Microwave Studio).
